| Free Camp for Inner-City Children The focus of the camp for inner-city children is to allow time for a kid just to be a kid. As children from the inner-city, there's rarely a time when their parents are not worried about gangs, drugs and negative influences on their children. Freedom Ranch will provide transportation from the city to the Ranch. Two, 60-passenger buses will be used to transport the children to the Ranch and return them back to the central pickup/ drop-off location in the city. Camp sessions occur in the summer and are 1-2 weeks full of wonder. The schedule will be coordinated with the different cities and organizations that refer potential campers. There are only two requirements to participate: 1) the children must be from a single-parent home; and 2) they must have passing grades.
The children will reside in bunkhouses with 2 counselors per unit. Six bunkhouses will be built. This will allow 120 children per session to participate. There will be 4-5 sessions each summer. Each bunkhouse will be fully equipped with electricity and its own rest rooms. While the primary focus for the children is to have fun, that isn't to say there isn't a need for additional support. We understand this is a vital component to this camp. We will have counselors and case managers available 24 hours to help the children as needed. Please join with us in making this dream a reality.
